At the Royal Photographic Society annual awards ceremony last month Catherine Draycott, Head of Wellcome Images, was awarded The Combined Royal Colleges Medal.
Established by The Society in 1958, in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians of London, the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Royal Colleges Medal is awarded for an outstanding contribution to photography and / or its application in the service of medicine and surgery.
Since starting at the Wellcome Trust in 1992 Catherine has overseen the acquisition and development of a collection of 45,000 contemporary images combining clinical medicine and disease with biomedical science.
Wellcome Images, previously The Wellcome Trust Medical Photographic Library, has been a long standing member of IMI and supports the Institute in various ways. IMI sends our heartiest congratulations to Catherine. |
