Trade Show
We currently have 15 companies exhibiting at this year’s Trade Show on September 12th. This promises to be a really exciting event with lots on show. A passport scheme will be in operation with a fabulous prize for the winner.
New Voices
Five ‘New Voices’ will be giving papers for the first time at IMI Conference. These are:
Louise Tehrani - Customer care/communication
Gemma Leyland - Teledermatology
Ellie Rush - Surgical photography - Moh's procedure
Wendy Case - An evaluation of the role of clinical illustration in infection control
Lisa McCourt-Kirk - Patient information videos
The future of Medical Illustration
Should we let others take clinical photographs? This issue is a current ‘hot topic’ within the profession – just take a look at the thread discussing this on the IMI Talk discussion forum if you’re in any doubt. Members of our profession have widely varying views on this matter. This session, scheduled for Saturday, promises to be a lively affair. Don’t miss it!
Final session of Conference
We have an unusual and exciting session lined up to end conference. Although not directly linked to medical illustration, the session promises to be of interest to all. Steve and Ann Toon are professional wildlife photographers who will entertain delegates with images and anecdotes from some of their favourite wildlife destinations. In addition, there will be a wildlife related quiz to end the session complete with an appropriate prize worth £100 courtesy of Jessops!
Social programme
As previously announced, the social programme includes a boat cruise (the ‘Prince Bishop’ sails on Thursday evening), School Party (school dinners have been ordered and games purchased – school outfits optional), an early morning guided tour around Durham (let’s hope it doesn’t rain) and a fantastic awards banquet in Durham Castle (which was built by William the Conqueror especially for IMI).

The above is just part of a packed conference programme. Please see the conference section of the IMI website for more information. IMI Conference 2008 promises to be a great one. If you haven’t booked yet – what are you waiting for? Get it booked!
