A Medical Photographer and IMI member who works for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has been granted honorary membership of the Royal College of Radiologists.
Nick Taylor, who works at Eastbourne DGH, has provided high quality images over the last five years for one of the College's Fellowship exams. In the process, he has created a bank of over 500 case studies from which the examiners can now choose.
Several hundred consultant radiologists, based in the UK and around the world, sit the exam each year.
This is a departure from Nick’s usual work which sees him providing a comprehensive clinical and retinal photography service to the clinicians of the Trust, photographing patients on the wards, in theatre or as outpatients.
Nick has been the photographer at Eastbourne DGH for more than twenty years and has had many images published in medical journals and textbooks, as well as producing many prize-winning posters presented at national and international medical conferences.
On his award Nick said “Recognition from a national external body to someone in my profession is a very rare occurrence, and it was with great pleasure that I received the honour".
Dr David Hughes, Medical Director and Consultant Radiologist at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, said: "Only a handful of non-medical professionals are given honorary membership to the College, so this is extremely prestigious for Nick and reflects how much the College appreciates the work he does for them".
