I am writing to you as the co-coordinator of this exhibition which is the second exhibition in the series. The first held in 2011-2012, has been a great success showing at venues such as the Palace of Westminster, the Royal Albert Hall and Edinburgh Science Festival. There are two versions being showm, one within the UK and the other internationally which will remain in circulation until summer 2013.
Building on this success I am now working on the second exhibition which will be a partnership between The Royal Photographic Society (www.rps.org) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (www.stfc.ac.uk). This new exhibition will open in August 2013 in Newcastle and will show during the British Science Festival. It is very pleasing to note that all the previous sponsors have agreed to sponsor the new exhibition.
The Society is one of the oldest and most respected photographic Societies in the world. It exhibits all types of photography from the art and science of photography.
Submissions to the 2013 Images for Science exhibition are open to everyone including scientific photographers, researchers, engineers, technologists and scientists from all over the world. Images are welcome from all areas in which photography plays an important role, for example, medicine, forensic sciences, engineering, research, archaeology, oceanography, natural history, astronomy, aviation, microscopy, endoscopy; in fact in every single discipline of science.
I would encourage you to submit up to five images in the field of your specialisation. Our FTP server will be up and running to receive images on 1 November 2012 and will remain open until mid-night of 14 April 2013. I regret that no more entries can be accepted after the closing date.
100 images will be selected. The final prints and mounts will be approximately 72 x 62cm and, again, two sets - one for use within the UK and the other for international use will be made. A high quality A4 size catalogue will accompany the exhibition and be provided to all exhibitors.
Entry conditions and a facility to complete a form and upload your images can be found at: www.rps.org/IISE2013
I would be delighted to hear from you and would be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
