An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Photography (Ophthalmology) Team Manager to join our management team in one of the largest Medical Illustration Services in the UK. Our Service provides multi-skilled support for NHS staff at every level and for all disciplines involved in patient care and education, medical teaching, research and communication.
Our Service has a team-based structure, consisting of Photography North, Photography South, Graphics (Design and Print), and Video & Systems, serving all sectors across the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region. As one of two Photography Team Managers you will be jointly responsible for delivering clinical services across ten acute hospital sites, with a specialist focus on ophthalmology. The role of the Photography Team Managers is to provide professional and clinical leadership, management, training, support and supervision to the team of twenty photographers. You will have the lead role in the delivery and development of the ophthalmic imaging service across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, therefore experience and expert knowledge in ophthalmic imaging systems and techniques is essential. This is primarily a management role, though you will be expected to participate actively in the staff rota. You will work within a prescribed budget to implement a cost-effective service, and be required to develop, review and implement policies and procedures to ensure the continual improvement of our Service.You will also be responsible for managing staff performance, recruitment and departmental discipline.
All applicants are required to be AHCS-Registered, hold a BSc Degree in Photography with a post-graduate qualification in medical illustration, or equivalent level of knowledge and expertise in ophthalmic imaging. You should also have substantial experience in a supervisory clinical role. As this position entails shared responsibilities, your interpersonal skills and team-working will need to be excellent. You will be an innovative and enthusiastic leader and a strong work ethic and professional flexibility will be expected. A Driving Licence is desirable.
