Students benefit from IMI Scholarship Scheme

At a time when student finances are so much in the media it is nice to be able to announce some good news. The first IMI student scholarships have now been agreed by Council and several student members will be receiving cash support for their studies. The scheme has up to £3500 each year to distribute among the recipients, each of whom is required to submit an application. Funds can be requested for help with course fees, or other essentials such as textbooks.

The following Awards have been made in 2010

  • Anne Ramsey - Course fees £600
  • Roger Hulley - Course fees £600
  • Scarlett Hindle - Course fees £600
  • James Laughton - Course fees £600
  • Simon Wells - Course fees £236
  • Eleanor Wright - Key texts £200
  • Larry Dunstan - Books £350

Scholarships for 2011

Applications for the Awards for 2011 are soon to be invited, and the deadline for applications will be in August 2011, with the results announced at the IMI Annual Conference in Cheshunt, Herts, October 5-8 2011. The scheme does not fund travel, IMI membership fees or attendance at IMI conference. However, anyone wishing to apply for travel funding for education or training may apply to Council for an award from the Pat Turnbull Travel Fund.

Student membership - benefits

In addition to being able to apply for scholarship funding, student members of IMI benefit from subsidised membership fees, which remain low for their first two years after qualifying, as well as reduced rates for attending the IMI Annual Conference and the opportunity to submit work to be exhibited at the IMI Annual Awards Exhibition, with a chance of winning the Peter Kilshaw Student Award.
