Stephen Palmer has been awarded the Norman K Harrison medal by the IMI Chairman, Ross Milligan. The award was made at this year's IMI Conference in Glasgow.

A Medical Photographer and IMI member who works for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has been granted honorary membership of the Royal College of Radiologists. Nick Taylor, who works at Eastbourne District General Hospital, has provided high quality images over the last five years for one of the College's Fellowship exams. In the process, he has created a bank of over 500 case studies from which the examiners can now choose.

The Royal College of General Practitioners has announced that Professor Mike Pringle has been elected as the next President of the College following a national ballot of its membership. As President of the RCGP Professor Pringle will also become President of IMI.

Since the Caldicott Report was published in 1997, the need for data sharing among health professionals (and non-health professionals) across organisations and sectors has increased. This manual introduces some specific legislation that enables sharing of data.
