    26 June 2018

    All practitioners who are up to date with their AHCS registration – and that should be any medical photographer or illustrator who has direct patient contact – can use the phrase "Registered Medical Illustrator" and are also allowed and encouraged to use the PSA kitemark on their emails and correspondence. Please also note that it is NOT correct to put 'AHCS' after one's name to indicate registration. IMI members may download the PSA kite mark as a JPEG-format file from the right of this page.

You will see photographs and biographies of all of the candidates. You can vote for a maximum of two people. The results of this election will be announced at IMI’s AGM on October 6th October 2017.

  • Nominations for Emeritus Membership of IMI

    The following procedure has been approved by Council for the award of Honorary Fellowships. The Honorary Fellowship is quite distinct from the ordinary Fellowship and is awarded in recognition of outstanding service to the Institute or to the profession as a whole. It is envisaged that this high distinction will be sparingly awarded and is vested solely in the Council of the Institute. A maximum of two Honorary Fellowships will be awarded in any calendar year and there shall be no compulsion to make any such awards in a given year.

    The Science Photo Library was created in 1981. The founder, Michael Marten, had just finished publishing a popular book on the world seen through modern scientific imaging techniques. Other publishers started to ask if they could use these images for other books. Michael saw the business potential of this and the company was born.
