As things are progressing it is becoming increasingly evident that the Coronavirus pandemic is going to take some months to resolve.  Whilst we all hope that the worst will be over by October, IMI has to make some difficult decisions about our conference now, otherwise we face substantial financial penalties for making changes.

It is therefore with enormous regret that IMI announces the postponement of the 2020 annual conference which was to have taken place 2nd and 3rdOctober 2020.

In recent days Council, the Chairman and Officers have been in discussion over this along with the hotels and conference teams involved and have agreed the following:

  • The 2020 conference to be held at Cheshunt, London will move to 7-10th October 2021. Emily Appleby and Jill Fell will continue as its conference leads. Anyone who has already booked for 2020 will be given the option to either retain their booking on account, to be taken in 2021 or request a full refund.
  • The 2022 conference will take place at Clydebank, Glasgow on 6-9th October and will be chaired by Sharon Sutherland.

We are also considering running a one-day event for 2020 and incorporating the AGM and IMI Awards. At this stage we plan to continue with the 2020 IMI Awards but this is under constant review.

There is clearly much detail to resolve but we wanted to update you as soon as possible. Everyone at IMI hopes that you and your families remain well at this extraordinary time.
