Just a reminder that the IMI Mentorship scheme is now up and running. We are always looking for new applications so that we can make the best pairing between individuals.
The scheme follows a ‘reciprocal’ mentorship model. This allows for learning to occur in both directions, from the more senior member of the pair to the junior as in a traditional mentorship, but also in reverse, with the member of the pair newest to the profession also having useful insights to pass on. The scheme now allows members of over two years to choose whether they wish to be the ‘junior’ or ‘senior’ part of the match.
We are keen to encourage all of our members to consider taking part in this exciting initiative to help promote community and professional development across IMI.

“This has been a truly worthwhile and satisfying process, and one that I hope will continue beyond the official end of the programme. A reciprocal mentorship scheme is designed to give both parties opportunities to learn, not just one way traffic, and the discussion times we had together reinforced that for me. The dialogues were open and honest, and I felt we were both able to share managerial challenges in a safe environment that allowed problems to morph into possible solutions by merely discussing different options. Past experiences and new discoveries intertwined during our informal discussions, giving us a real feeling of joint ownership when potential answers were arrived at.”
