Professional Membership

Complete the form to apply for Professional Membership to the Institute.
Professional Membership is for those engaged in medical illustration and who hold a professional qualification approved by Council. Professional Members are entitled to use the letters MIMI after their name.
The Membership Committee require your professional details and educational qualifications to grant membership to anybody applying.
Successful completion of any of these courses qualifies for full professional membership:
- Staffordshire University – Graduate and Postgraduate certificates in Clinical Photography or Graphic Design for Healthcare
- Health Education and Improvement Wales – Level 7 Diploma in Clinical Photography
- University of Dundee – MSc in Medical Art
- University of Dundee – MSc in Forensic Art and Facial Identification
- Digital Design Studio, Glasgow School of Art – MSc In Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy View a video about the course.
- Medical Artists’ Education Trust and leads to Membership of the MAA – The Postgraduate Programme in Medical Art
The following qualifications, which are no longer running, also qualify for full professional membership:
- Westminster University – BSc (Hons) in Clinical Photography
- University of Wales – MSc in Medical Illustration
- Cardiff University – Postgraduate Certificate
Membership Fee
The IMI subscription year runs from 1st April to 31st March and there are several ways to pay your subscription. Reminders will be sent out to all members in March, so please ensure that your email details are correctly listed in the members directory and that you have read our subscription policy. If you are a UK tax payer, you can claim your subscription fee against your tax bill.
Professional Membership fee is £130 per year.
Payment
The IMI subscription year runs from 1st April to 31st March and there are several ways to pay your subscription.
Monthly or Annual Direct Debit – The easiest way to pay is by setting up a direct debit plan with our chosen provider Stripe which spreads your payments over the year.
Invoice – If you would prefer an invoice to be raised against your hospital or business, include this information when registering through the link above.
