VTC access
IMI Council and its officers work hard to provide the best value possible for the membership and all decisions are thought through carefully, bearing in mind financial costs along the way. One of the current benefits which has been available for quite a number of years now, is the access to the VTC online training website where training for all manner of software programmes is available. Uptake of this facility by members has been low over the years and very few people have ever completed a course they have started. For example, in the last two years, which included lockdown periods, only 4 people started and completed courses. It has also been highlighted that the courses themselves are often long, and although comprehensive, not put together in such a way that makes it easy to find the answer to a single query which is often what people are looking for. They are often based on older versions of software.
In light of all of this, Council has taken the decision that it is not good value for money and therefore, to unsubscribe from the VTC facility from April 1st this year. It is hoped that this period of notice will allow any members currently undertaking training to complete the courses they are doing. We intend instead, to provide a series of links to courses or clips which can be easily accessed. Some of these will be in short bite-size segments which we hope will prove to be more accessible and relevant. |
